About Slice of Life

Slice of Life Tees. Because life’s too short to take small bites.

–––Maurice Beebe

Our Mission:

Simply put, the goal at SLICE OF LIFE Tees is to make foodies t-shirts that express who they are. Our tees are designed around our love of food, cooking and eating. Some are thoughtful, some are quirky and some are just plain wrong, but if you’re a foodie, you’ll love each and every one. In addition, we’ve decided to donate a portion of all of our proceeds to food charities. What better way to share our love of food than to help put food on another person’s table?

“Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all.”

—–Harriet Van Horne

Our Story:

Like so many of the best ideas, SLICE OF LIFE Tees was born around the kitchen table. When a chef, an artist, & a bunch of their friends get together they drink lots of wine, cook & eat some amazing food, laugh a hell of a lot, and talk about the strangest things. During one of these conversations, we were talking about business ideas. Someone (Randy, I think), mentioned t-shirts. As we talked about it, we realized designing t-shirts based around food had some great potential. This was the start of SLICE OF LIFE TEES. We’ve had plenty of (hysterical) brainstorming sessions since that night, but that’s where the idea started…

Our Crew:

Gates Councilor:

Gates is an artist with years of experience (more than he’ll admit to) in the animation and motion graphics industry. He’s also done a lot of design work over the years – including plenty of t-shirt designs. When he & Punk decided to start SLICE OF LIFE, it seemed natural for Gates to take on most of the creative work. He’s done the bulk of the designs you see in the store. If you like them, let him know; if you don’t, blame Jason – that’s what we usually do.

Maurice “Punk” Beebe:

Maurice (“Punk” to his friends) is a chef, restaurateur & businessman. Like most chefs, he doesn’t just like food – he’s passionate about it. Our newest venture, SLICE OF LIFE, gives him the chance to combine his foodie side & his business side. He’s the one behind the scenes making all the hard decisions that help keep us going.

Friends, Family & Supporters:

We knew that starting SLICE OF LIFE Tees would be a lot of work. Luckily for us, we have a large circle of friends & family who were there to help. From coming up with shirt ideas (one particular brainstorming session resulted in the deaths of a bottle of Jack, a bottle of Captain Morgan, and multiple bottles of chardonnay), being our models, to help with spreading the word, we couldn’t have done it without them. Special thanks to Jason (illustrator extraordinaire), Rena, Randy, Stan, Steve, Joe, Stamford, Viv, Kitty & more. You guys rock.
