Our newest design, “Food Porn Star”!

After dealing with our printing company suddenly folding, we’ve been searching high & low for a new one. We’ve finally narrowed it down to 2, and will be getting quotes from them this week for our newest design, “Food Porn Star”! Looking back, we’ve realized that, while we love our designs, we could be a little… bolder. We’ve erred on the safe side, with color choices, with the size of the prints, etc. No more – we’re going to start kicking it up a notch. We’ll be making the...

South Beach Bound

We are excited to announce that we are going to be attending the Food Network Food & Wine Festival in South Beach at the end of this month. How this happened is, well, there’s a story there. Back in early December, while in the middle of our annual Holiday Cookie Baking marathon (seriously – we make about 30-35 different types of cookies, and about 10-12 dozen of each), we noticed a contest that was being run on Facebook by Cooking Channel. The “Holiday Cookie Swap” was a chance to enter a cookie recipe and possibly...

Food+T-shirts? Really?

Food+T-shirts? Really?

This is a mash-up of our pantry & our closet. It’s pretty clear we that we love food AND t-shirts. Maybe this is why SLICE of LIFE seemed like a natural fit for us. When we started talking about ideas for what we wanted to do with t-shirts, we fell fairly quickly into the idea of designing shirts based around food. Punk is a chef & owns a restaurant. We are surrounded by food all the time. And once we started looking around, we didn’t really see any company focusing on food. There’s a ton of bacon shirts (and yes, we...

Free To Be…

You and Me (apologies to Marlo Thomas!) I’ve been taking some time over the last few days to think about this blog, and what I/we want it to achieve, what purpose we want it to serve. It dawned on me that the best, most enjoyable blogs are ones that really give an insight into the person or people behind it. It doesn’t matter wether the blog is personal or for business, the best ones…. reveal something. To be honest, I’m not sure that we’ve been doing that. Well, that’s going to change, because it’s dawned...

How are we doing so far?

How are we doing so far?

No, really…. how are we doing so far? We’ve been open since february, and we’re working hard to get the word out. But we need to know what we’re doing right, and what we’re doing wrong. We figured the most logical people to ask would be you. One of the first questions is the web site. We plan on taking all new product pictures for the store this weekend, and are considering reworking the site – maybe a lighter, cleaner look. What about the site as it is now, though? Is it easy to use, to get around? Legible?...

Our Guilty Pleasures

Our Guilty Pleasures

Here at Slice of Life Tees, sometimes we think that people think of foodies as stuffy or snobby. We’re sure there are some who are – maybe we’d be better off to call them “gourmands”. We prefer to think that real foodies love the full range of food – from high brow & ridiculously expensive to the junkiest of junk foods. Hidden in there are the guilty pleasures. We all have them. Here’s a few of ours: B.F.D.: Short for breakfast for dinner, it’s probably one of our biggest guilty pleasures....

Thanks to Collin (proud owner of a Slice of Life “Proud Vegetarian” shirt), for pointing these out to us. Bad Lip Reading is a bunch of hysterical videos that are …. well… bad lip reading. This one of Michelle Bachmann, however? my absolute favorite.

A new toy at Slice of Life!

A new toy at Slice of Life!

We managed to snag one of the new iPhones the other day at our local AT&T. We had been using the iPhone 3G – it was almost 3 years old. Sadly, a lot of the pictures we were taking was using the old phone, and they suffered for it. The new phone? The new camera? Awesome. Much, much higher quality images – take a look at how beautiful this shot of our clementines is. Oh, and HiDef video as well? Yeah, we’ll be taking advantage of that too. We’ll be taking the opportunity to update a lot of our pictures over the next...
