Food Porn Fridays

Food Porn Fridays

Googa Mooga (a NYC food fair) is going on this weekend. How something I didn’t even know about until 2 days ago has come to occupy my entire consciousness is meat for another post – Friday is all about Food Porn. We’re desperately seeking tickets for Googa Mooga, so I’ve scoured the web at various foodie sites – it still amazes me the sheer amount of food lovers that are out there now, and the diversity is amazing. We noticed a post over on Googa Mooga’s FB page that one kind soul was having a contest for 2...

Slice of Life Tees has Summer Plans

Slice of Life Tees has Summer Plans

Here at Slice of Life, we seem to spend all of our time either slaving away in the kitchen or designing new t-shirts with our foodie friends in mind. While we love our time in the kitchen (honestly, Punk slaves in the kitchen, I just do dishes), it’s the design time I get really excited about. We just unveiled “Food Porn Star”, our newest shirt, back from the printer. Next up will probably be “Bad Ass Baker”, a biker themed baker’s tee. After that? South Beach Bound

We are excited to announce that we are going to be attending the Food Network Food & Wine Festival in South Beach at the end of this month. How this happened is, well, there’s a story there. Back in early December, while in the middle of our annual Holiday Cookie Baking marathon (seriously – we make about 30-35 different types of cookies, and about 10-12 dozen of each), we noticed a contest that was being run on Facebook by Cooking Channel. The “Holiday Cookie Swap” was a chance to enter a cookie recipe and possibly...

Foodies, t-shirts & festivals – lessons learned

This has been our first summer selling SLICE of LIFE Tees at food festivals, and we’ve gotten a lot out of it, in a variety of ways. First and foremost, we’ve started to get our name out there. “Slice of Life” is, we think, a name that (with the slightly troubling overlap with “Dexter”) sort of stands out, so we hope that our name starts to register when people think of t-shirts for foodies. The festivals have been mostly local ones, but you have to start somewhere. We may be crazy optimistic, but we have...

The last 2 weeks, pt 2: Irene, Festivals & more…

So yeah… hurricane Irene. She was NOT a lot of fun here in Connecticut. All things considered, our area was fairly lucky. We had a fair amount of wind damage, but luckily, very little rain. We lost a good portion of one tree (and some fence), and power for a few days. But we had everything back & ready for the following weekend, which was good, since we had the first of many food festivals that weekend. We weren’t there selling shirts, we were there for Punk’s restaurant, The North End, selling burgers, & fried...
